I live in a 700 sq ft apartment, and the litter trash was the first thing guests noticed. The rubber-sealed lid clicks shut and the smell is just gone. With two cats I empty it about once a week.
My old pail needed its own refill cartridges, which cost almost as much as the litter. This one takes regular kitchen trash bags. That's the main reason I switched.
